Overview

Eccentric tri clamp reducers aren't eccentric because they wear a monocle and keep a pet raven. Imagine drawing two circles. One is large, the other is small. If you draw the smaller circle inside the larger circle so that both share the same center point, that's concentric. But if you draw them so that the smaller circle is inside the larger circle and the circumference of the smaller circle is touching the circumference of the larger circle, that's eccentric.

Eccentric reducers are sometimes called offset reducers because the centers are offset from one another. The practical benefit: the bottom of the reducer sits flat and parallel to the ground, which keeps liquid moving rather than pooling at the transition. That flat bottom also prevents air pockets from forming at size changes, making eccentric reducers the go-to at pump inlets where you need smooth, consistent flow. There's nothing eccentric about that.
