Overview
Graver MBC filters are a coarse, economical first-stage particulate filter that protects your downstream filters from premature fouling. Made from melt-blown polypropylene, MBC soaks up the large solids that would otherwise head straight for your pleated polishing and membrane filters.
MBC is ideal for knocking out sediment and coarse solids upstream of more sensitive filters or equipment, whether you're filtering water, wine, beer, or spirits.
MBC filters are formed by melting polypropylene and blowing it onto a solid core in a multi-stage construction: a loose outer layer captures the largest particles, and progressively denser inner layers trap finer solids before they reach downstream. This depth loading is what gives MBC long onstream life, the whole cartridge fills up rather than blinding at the surface.
Run MBC until it saturates, then pull it and replace it. There's no cleaning or backflushing, at a few dollars of protection for the far more expensive filters behind it, that's the point.
