Inert Gas Valve for DO Protection
Overview
If you would like to protect your wine from picking up dissolved oxygen in the reservoir, this is a handy add-on. It's only available for Mori Fillers with electronic level control.
We drill a hole into the side of the Mori Filler's liquid reservoir and mount an electronic valve that automatically opens when the pump turns on. The valve remains open as long as wine is pumping into the reservoir, ensuring the wine is blanketed with inert gas as it enters.
Just connect a tank of inert gas to the automatic valve via the 1/4" NPT inlet, and set the pressure low. For additional protection we recommend sparging your bottles with inert gas as well. When you place a bottle on the spout of a gravity filler, the air in the bottle is displaced by liquid in the reservoir. The air from the bottle then goes up into the reservoir, so if you're sparging bottles with inert gas, you're further preventing the wine in the reservoir from DO pick-up.
