Overview

These hose ends are made from 304 Stainless Steel, and terminate with sanitary Tri Clamp fittings. The barbs are serrated for extra grip.

Some ends are available with an oversize. Oversize means it measures slightly over the indicated size. If you are installing hose ends on a premium rubber hose like any of our GlideTech hoses, you can use the normal-sized ends. If you are installing these on a hard PVC hose like Kanaflex or Kanaline, you should use the oversize ends.

Kanaflex and Kanaline don't squeeze or deform much, so the normal ends will insert easily, but that may lead to a leaky hose. Don't use those. Use the oversize hose ends on Kanaflex and Kanaline. The oversize ends will be really difficult to install, but that's actually better. There's a much lower chance that your installation will leak.

Once the ends are installed, you should use a Strapbinder tool to secure preformed clamps. Don't use screw-on worm clamps or the like.

Here's how we recommend installing the oversize hose ends in Kanaflex/Kanaline:

  • Heat up the hose end that will be receiving the oversize barb. In the past, we have used a heat gun or a crock pot with really hot water.
  • Once the hose is soft enough, quickly spray some food-grade silicone spray on the hose barb and jam it in.
  • If you're lucky, the hose end went in far enough. If you're not lucky and the hose stopped up, you may have to get a rubber mallet to pound it in. If you're really unlucky and the hose end won't budge in any further, you'll either have to accept a partially-inserted hose barb, or cut it out and try again.

If you don't want to go through all that hassle, just get pre-made hoses from us with much nicer crimped-on ends.
